About Us - Care Philosophy

The mission of Iliff Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is to provide the finest quality health care, rehabilitative and support services to our residents and their families.

Our care approach is patient-centered and involves an integrated program of therapies that address the total well- being of our patients. For each resident, we create an individual care plan and assemble a care team that may include specialists from several areas. The goal is to design a course of treatment and therapy that best meets the needs of the resident.

Where kids are special:
the Renaissance Pediatric Unit at Iliff

Like most nursing homes, Iliff cares for many elderly residents. But we also have a busy pediatric unit for children with special needs and chronic diseases. The Renaissance Pediatric Unit at Iliff is a 37-bed unit providing specialized, long-term and subacute care to children from infancy through 21 years old.

The unit itself is compromised of a combination of two to three bedrooms, each having apnea monitoring or additional equipment capabilities. Private rooms are also available based on isolation purposes, hospice, etc. years.

Our pediatric unit is a bright, cheerful place where youngsters are cared for with skill and love. In addition to our specially-trained staff, a large group of volunteers visits regularly to spend time with our children. These volunteer "grandparents" read to our children, chat with them, or simply rock and comfort them. We also schedule recreational and therapeutic outings to those children who are well enough and able to be transported.

The Renaissance Pediatric Unit is one of only two such facilities of this kind within the state of Virginia. Oversight of the unit is provided by a special ethics committee that includes parent advocates, ethicists, clergypersons, legal consultants and school system representatives.

Volunteers Welcome
Volunteers are always welcome in both the geriatric and the pediatric units at Iliff. You can help with activities, outings, meals, one-on-one visiting and more. Interested in joining our wonderful group? Contact us by phone or e-mail for more info.

Special Outings We believe it is important for both our geriatric and pediatric residents to enjoy outings into the community for recreation, dining and shopping. Our schedule includes special trips to attractions like local parks, restaurants and shops as well as to special events, fairs and parades. Our fully-equipped, wheelchair-accessible van makes these outings possible for many residents.
